Hydrology Lab.
Researchers of water resources engineering division of ACE study distribution and management of water resources. They also study water cycle, potential impact of global environmental change on water resources, physical processes of water flow, and prediction of stream flow.
The Hydrology Laboratory primarily focuses on characterizing the hydrologic cycle within watersheds and developing effective strategies to address water-related disasters, such as floods and droughts. Quantifying watershed runoff characteristics—a fundamental and traditional topic in hydrology—remains one of our core research pillars.
In addition, our research encompasses the design and evaluation of observation networks for various hydrologic factors, including precipitation, runoff, and soil moisture. We also place significant emphasis on the calibration and application of weather radar, a field of growing importance in recent years. Furthermore, our lab consistently conducts analyses on the changing characteristics of floods and droughts, which have increased in frequency due to the impacts of climate change.
